The Festival of Remembrance is an annual tribute of music and pageantry to honour the men and women who served our country and those who fell in the line of duty.
Our offering in 2014 was themed around the First World War and included: Hadrian’s Wall (soloist: Musician Douglas Payne), the hymn God Be With You ’Til We Meet Again, Alexander’s Ragtime Band, I’m Always Chasing Rainbows, and the march Soldiers of the King.
The Band participates annually in the Battle of Britain commemorations and parade. Marked on the third Sunday of September, it honours and commemorates the members of the Air Force who fought and died during battle. It also recognizes all the men and women who served, and continue to serve in the Air Force today.

July 1st is Canada Day, but in Newfoundland it is also Memorial Day. On July 1st 1916, the Royal Newfoundland Regiment suffered heavy casualties at Beaumont Hamel on the opening day of the Battle of the Somme. With the historical ties between the CLB and the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, the Band is proud to be invited by the Royal Newfoundland Regiment to take part in this commemoration. The combined bands are seen here playing Kenneth Alford’s Great Little Army.

The CLB Regimental Band has participated in every Remembrance Day Ceremony since the end of the First World War. The Band was also present when Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig unveiled the National War Memorial in 1924. To this day, the CLB Regimental Band still leads the parade and plays for the march-past following the ceremony. Here the Band is seen playing an adaptation of the folk song Sailing arranged by Capt. Albertine Bethel.
Fight the Good Fight is the hymn of the CLB. Here the Band is seen playing for the congregation of Holy Innocents Parish in Paradise, NL. The Band was in attendance for Paradise Company’s Enrollment Service.
